Workshop

Workshop is an afternoon class which is meant to improve the asana performance.

We have selected the number of the programs to work on student`s strength, flexibility, balance, inversions etc.

During the week we cover different aspect of the body work:

– upper body strength and core including working on jump back and jump through techniques;
– back bends;
– hip opening;
– Interval Workouts;
– Moon Sequence;
– Yoga Therapy (Spinal Column, Reproductive System, Breathing System);

The classes are allocated into the schedule depending on the need of the group. The students of any level of practice are offered with a workout suitable for each person. It is a fun class which is held in a very informal atmosphere.

“Nidra” means sleep, it is conscious deep sleep. It is a technique in which the destructions of the mind are contained and the mind is allowed to relax. This practice has a profound transformative effect on practitioners.

People feel that they are relaxing when they collapse in an easy chair with a cup of tea or coffee, a drink or a cigarette and read a newspaper or switch on the television. But this, in fact, is merely sensory diversion. Twentieth century research into sleep has proven that even entering into this traditional haven will rarely banish stress. True relaxation is an experience far beyond all this. For absolute relaxation one must remain aware.

Yoga Nidra Phuket is a systematic method of inducing complete relaxation of the body, breath and mind. During the practice, one appears to be asleep, but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness

Kriyas are ancient purification techniques within yoga system. Generally there are six cleansing techniques and they are used to increase the vital capacity of the practitioner. Kriyas are designed to create harmony in body and mind and prepare one for further practices.

The effect of kriyas can be summed up in one word – purification. When the different systems of the body have been purified, the overall result is that energy can flow through the body freely. Ones capacity to work, think, digest, taste, feel, experience, etc. increases and greater awareness develops.

Quite often Pranayama is defined as “breath control” however it does not describe the full meaning of the word. “Prana” means vital energy or “life force” and “ayama” means “control”. Prana is the force which exists in all things, whether animate or inanimate. Although closely related to the air we breathe, it is more subtle that air or oxygen. Pranayama utilizes breathing to influence the flow of prana in the nadis or energy channels of the energy body. Pranayama requires a high level of concentration, prana and mind are intricately linked. Fluctuation of one means fluctuation of the other.

At the Pranayama class Phuket we practice a number of techniques consistently, starting from the basic exercises of breath control and slowly deepen the practice. The union of Asana and Pranayama practices is considered as the highest form of purification and self discipline covering both body and mind.

Ashtanga Led Class Phuket is a method of practice where the teacher counts the numbers to a group so they could follow the movement patterns precisely and consistently. Traditionally counted in Sanskrit Led Class reinforces the proper vinyasa system – the correct way of inhalation and exhalation as we enter in and out of each posture. This class is an important complement to a regular Mysore practice for experienced and new students. Its an opportunity to ensure that each vinyasa is being learned and practiced correctly and also its an opportunity to increase the internal and external strength, discipline and mental focus. All students move as one and it creates strong group energy and inspiring atmosphere at the class.

Mysore Style Class Phuket

The Ashtanga Yoga method is built around “Mysore Style” class which is named so because S. K. Pattabhi Jois was teaching this way in Mysore, India and same way Ashtanga Yoga is taught at traditional Ashtanga Yoga schools around the world. In Mysore Class the student is taught the sequence of postures through one-to-one instruction.

All aspects of the practice are learned consistently.

People of ages, experiences and backgrounds are welcome in Mysore Class. There is a misconception about Mysore Class that the students needs to know something before the class or its only for advanced students, this view is totally untrue. At Mysore Class the teacher meets the students where they are the day they walk into the room and its the safest and most valuable way to learn the practice of Ashtanga Yoga.

Students are expected to remember and practice what they have learnt from class to class. Class duration is 45 – 120 min depending on the level of the student.

Ashtanga Yoga asana practice is an establishing stability of mind and a cultivation of concentration through the postures where the body is used as a landscape to watch, observe and allow the transformation.
